Some outdoor spaces do more than support learning – they build belonging. A Yarning Circle is one of those spaces.
Designed as a calm, inclusive outdoor environment, the Yarning Circle invites students to slow down, listen, and connect – with each other, with their teachers, and with Aboriginal Culture and Heritage. Structured around the tradition of yarning, these spaces support storytelling, open discussion, and collaborative learning in a setting that feels meaningfully different from any standard classroom.
Schools across Australia are increasingly recognising the value of dedicated cultural learning spaces – both for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who see their culture represented, and for all students who benefit from learning about and engaging with it respectfully.
Yarning Circles foster:
- Listening and talking skills
- Teamwork and unity
- Trust, empathy, and mutual respect
- Belonging and a connection to storytelling

- 4 Conrod Curved Benches
